Here we are, six hours later, and Charlie is still asleep. He's still in recovery. The nurses are happy to not wake him because he'd just be nauseous. So Jeff had to go back home without giving him the truck and the dinosaur he bought him downstairs. The nurse told me that while we were out eating greasy Chinese in Brigham Circle, the otolaryngology resident came in and woke up Charlie and asked him to squint and smile to see if his facial nerve is OK; Charlie woke up, complied, and promptly fell back to sleep.
I lost my chance to give the thumbs up to the parents of the cute baby who had the double cleft; I wish I had said something.
Also OH MY GOD I'm sure I've said it before but seeing other families here and the troubles they have just makes me want to drop to my knees to give thanks for our very healthy family.
NEWS FLASH: He's awake.
Nurse just called so I'm agoin down the hall.
I am so glad to hear that Charlie is doing well. I hope the next few days just get better and better for him.
